1. Giving assistance to the Hindu community in calamities

Human life will be surrounded by instability and dangers due to the ensuing calamities in the near future. At such a time, there will be a great need to provide mental support to the patients along with providing them with medical treatment. At present, people get depressed because of the damage caused in a riot or flood and by natural disasters such as earthquakes. What will happen to them on witnessing a great loss of human life ? Therefore, it is the need of the hour to have an organisation of experts in medical field for the help that is needed by Hindu society in such a situation.

2. Organised fight for eradication of evil tendencies in the medical sector

2 A. Examples of evil tendencies in the medical sector

Many people experience inappropriate practices such as doctors and hospitals frequently taking extra charges from the patient, forcing the purchase of expensive medicines, that too from certain medical shops, insisting on undergoing expensive medical tests needlessly, etc. In some cases, surgery is prescribed even if there is no need to do so; especially, if there is a natural delivery during childbirth, the surgery is advised. Recently, after the death of a patient, he was still kept in ICU by claiming he was alive and was billed extra. Sometimes, if the patient can not pay the the full charges, the hospitals refuses to admit him; it is a far cry to administer him even the first aid on humanitarian ground. In such cases, the news of the death of a patient outside the hospital are often read in the newspapers. As a whole, medical field has lacked the sense of service, and professionalism has taken its place. Therefore, respect for the medical field in people’s mind has reduced a lot, and resentment has increased.

2 B. Need to reduce alienation between the doctor and patient

Due to the work of saving the life of a patient, even today, the doctor is considered as God in our society. However, nowadays, selfish tendencies have also penetrated in the medical field. Therefore, the credibility of the entire medical field is under threat. As a result of this, the incidents of assault on the doctors by the relatives of the patients are increasing, by accusing doctors of treating carelessly even in minor health-complaints. It is necessary for someone to take the initiative in lessening the injustice in the medical sector and reducing the alienation between the doctor and patient thereby again increasing the proximity among them.

3. Establishment of the Rashtriya Vaidyak Parishad

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is starting, as a unity of doctors, the functioning of Rashtriya Vaidyak Parishad to form an organisation of gentleman doctors having an outlook of social service. It will help doctors on two accounts – in providing medical assistance to Hindus in adverse times and reducing the alienation between the doctor and patient by stopping the evil tendencies in the medical field. The Council will act as an NGO. This organisation will regularly guide the like-minded doctors and nurses about how to fight with the evil tendencies in the Government and private hospitals by constitutional means.
