‘Theerthavari’ is a very famous temple festival of Peruvudaiyar Koil in Thanjavur where the Siva gangai abhisheka theertha will be taken and brought in a procession with traditional music instruments. This is an age old practice. But for the past few years there was an obstacle caused by Christian church which constructed a gate and stopped the procession from passing through the gate.
Hindu Ezhuchi Peravai (Hindu Jagruti movement) under the leadership of Pala Santhoshkumar conducted a strong protest condemning the acts of the church and got permission for the procession to pass through the traditional path. So, this year the temple procession happened smoothly in a grand manner.
