Mumbai : HJS undertakes awareness drive for immersion of Ganesh idols

HJS volunteers creating awareness through banners held by them

Mumbai : Mumbai Municipal Corporation had made arrangement of artificial water tanks on the ground of Manoranjan Park in Municipal Corporation’s area at Dattapada in Borivali (East) for immersion of Shri Ganesh idols. Though natural source of water is available at Sanjay Gandhi National Park just at 1 km distance, Municipal Corporation wasted people’s money by providing artificial water tank for immersion which is against ‘Dharma –shaastra’. Volunteers of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) therefore, carried banners in hands to create awareness amongst Ganesh-devotees about such anti-Dharma drive and explain science of immersion of Ganesh idols in flowing water. Handbills on the subject were also circulated on the occasion.

Highlights

1. Only 12 idols were immersed in artificial water tank between 5.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m.

2.Local municipal councilor Sou. Asavari Patil listened to the explanation and expressed displeasure over wrong practices such as loud music played on DJ, huge idols etc.

3. People passing by the road also stopped for a while to read the matter written on banners.

4. Two Ganesh-devotees said that next year, they would immerse their idols in flowing water.

Phaltan : Devotees turn their back to artificial water tanks after awareness created by HJS volunteers

Phaltan (Dist. Satara) : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had created awareness amongst people regarding ideal celebration of Ganesh festival through display of boards, posters, handbills, holding lectures etc. Phaltan Town Council had erected artificial water tanks at two places for immersion of Ganesh idols on the day of Anant Chaturdashi; but owing to the awareness created by HJS towards immersion of idols by explaining its spiritual importance, many devotees preferred to immerse idols in flowing water.
