Devout Hindus from Rajapur Taluka write to the President for minting coins with pictures of great national heroes

Ratnagiri (Maharashtra): It has been 350 years since Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj slew Afzal Khan and 100 years have been completed after Swatantryaveer Savarkar’s famous leap in the sea of Marseilles. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had made an appeal to all Hindus to write to the President demanding minting of coin with pictures of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Swatantryaveer Savarkar to commemorate the above incidents.

Responding to this appeal, a hundred devout and patriots from seven villages viz. Oshivale, Tulasvade, Paratvali, Adavali, Yelawan, Dhamanpe and Bagavewadi in Rajapur Taluka have written a letter to the President demanding minting of the two coins with the pictures of the above two great national heroes. Mr. Anant Kulkarni, a retired primary school teacher took initiative in writing such letters. Mr. Shantaram Rogye, ‘Purohit’ Mr. Gajanan Sapre are among the patriots who wrote the letter. (All the patriots and devout Hindus, who tookinitiative in writing letters to the President for honoring the great national leaders, deserve commendation. Other Hindus can follow suit ! – Editor SP)
