Sale of plastic flags stopped at Nanded.

Nanded(Maharashtra): HJS had undertaken a drive to stop denigration of National flags occurring through plastic flags used by the people. Under this drive, Dr. Shrikar Pardeshi, the District Collector was submitted memorandum by HJS members in this connection. Dr. Pardeshi called a meeting of all administrative officers directing them to make efforts at all levels to prevent sale and use of plastic flags as there is a ban on the same.

A circular was also issued on behalf of the District Collector’s office which was published in all newspapers and channels advising people against sale and purchase of plastic national flags with a warning to take action against those found guilty. A footnote was also shown by all channels that plastic flags should not be used. This led to reduction in sale of plastic flags by 95% in the markets of Nanded. There were no sellers of plastic flags on the roads. HJS members had also approached schools and advised students against using plastic flags as a result of which 97% students did not carry plastic flags.

Every year, many plastic flags are displayed even on private vehicles; but HJS members were standing on the roads to enlighten people about insult of national flags; there were very few vehicles on the roads which displayed such flags. Those who were explained about the denigration of flags, removed such flags and put them in the boxes kept for the purpose.
