Success : Touchtalent.com stops denigration of Hindu Deities after Hindus’ protest

Let us offer gratitude at the holy feet of Prabhu Shriram for this success !

Due to lawful protest by numerous devout Hindus, Touchtalent management have removed the post from their blog.

We also congratulate Touchtalent team for taking note of sentiments of Hindus and for taking appropriate action immediately !

On October 23rd, 2014, alert Hindus notified Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) regarding a cartoon displayed on an online community touchtalent.com. This online community depicted Shriram is like a “dope hero” with his sunglasses on, Mata Sita and Lakshman in modern dress and Hanuman as Superman in one of their cartoon.

HJS sent a letter to the founder of touchtalent.com, Mr. Ankit Prasad explaining to him how this cartoon amount to denigration. He was asked to remove this cartoon from the blog. They also urged to visit the HJS website to learn about the Dharma and Spirituality.

HJS’ activist emailed to him, who agreed with the points and said that they have removed such cartoon and all the links.

Subject: Request to remove cartoon by artist Ankur Choudhary denigrating Shriram, Sita Mata, Lakshman and Hanuman

Dear Sir,

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is a registered NGO in India doing social, Hindu Dharma related and national welfare work. The Samiti is also active throughout the world, educating people about Hindu Dharma in a scientific way, campaigning against malpractices done as Hindu Dharma related practices and solving problems related to misrepresentation of Hindu Dharma. For further details please visit our website www.HinduJagruti.org.

We had received complaints about some cartoons drawn by Ankur Choudhary displayed on your website http://touchtalent.com/blog/best-diwali-illustration-will-see/. In these cartoons, Shriram is shown like a “dope hero” with his sunglasses on, Mata Sita and Lakshman in modern dress and Hanuman as Superman and on their way back home in a vintage car, they stop to pose for a picture to show off muscles and strength. This is a denigration of Shriram, Lakshman, Mata Sita and Hanuman.

It is nice that you are promoting this legendary story of victory of good over evil for children. However, using the Hindu Deities in this manner still amounts to denigration. We feel that the artist is sharing his creative work on our Hindu deities’ pictures, but actually it is denigration and an offence as per Indian Penal Code section 295A.What will be the impact of such cartoons on children? Will such cartoons help to increase faith in Hindu Deities and Hinduism? Will such denigration tell the true essence of our Dharma Shaastra? We request you to see our page explaining about Shriram https://www.hindujagruti.org/hinduism/festivals/ram-navami/. There are other ways of exhibiting talent. We believe it should not be done to become a hindrance in developing faith and devotion unto God.

We request you to remove these cartoons immediately from your website and avoid the denigration of Deities and Hinduism in the future, too. Please acknowledge this letter and inform us in writing about the action taken by you in this regard, failing which we will be forced to start a protest campaign. Awaiting your prompt action and reply.

Yours faithfully,
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

Dear Janajagruti Samiti

I was getting few strange emails against a particular blog article published on Touchtalent during Diwali. On further enquiry I came to know about the open letter published on your website  {https://www.hindujagruti.org/news/35887.html}. It was unfortunate that I didn’t receive your direct email, probably it was filtered out by my email client.

Anyway, I take this opportunity to acknowledge your efforts against malpractices done with regard to hindu religion and promise to co-operate to whatever extent possible.

We are looking into the article and discussing internally the words and images being used in it. Meanwhile, it would fasten our process if you can cooperate and clearly pin point how the concerned article is affecting the sentiments of hindus. A few examples to illustrate your concern will also help us understand.

Look forward to your response.
