Conspiracy to build an advanced slaughterhouse in Pandharpur, A Holy Pilgrimage city

Margashirsha Shuklapaksha 8, Kaliyug Varsha 5114

Hindus, oppose traitors to Dharma, who are trying to denigrate your place of pilgrim for the sake of vote-bank, with legal means !

A question to Hindus

  • Hindus, will you bathe in the water in holy Chandrabhaga river mixed with blood of cows ?
  • Hindus, will you drink water in holy Chandrabhaga river mixed with blood of cows as ‘Tirth’ (Holy water) ?

Nagpur (Maharashtra) : Pandharpur is a pious place of pilgrim for Hindus. Millions of Warkaris from Maharashtra and surrounding states visit Pandharpur for the sight (Darshan) of Deity Viththal. Warkaris canvass against the consumption of meat and alcohol through their Kirtans (Religious discourses). It is an old demand of Warkaris to ban the slaughter of animals, prohibit the sale of meat, and close all the liquor shops in the place of pilgrim, Pandharpur. Still, Ms. Ujjwala Bhalerao, President of Pandharpur Municipal Council is preparing to build a mechanised slaughterhouse in the town.

On 23rd November, 2012, when the Home Minster, Mr. R.R. Patil visited Pandharpur in connection with dedication of a Bhakt-nivas (Lodge for the use of devotees) to public (Lokarpan), the Municipal President submitted him a memorandum. Through this memorandum, a request was made to the government for a grant of Rs. 60 Lakhs for building an advanced slaughterhouse in Pandharpur. When this request was exposed, it has caused extreme discontent among Warkaris. (On one hand, no essential facilities are provided for the devotees visiting Pandharpur despite several continuous demands. In spite of sanction of 28 crores of rupees as a development fund for Pandharpur pilgrim centre, this amount still remains unutilised. On the other hand, by building slaughterhouse in a pious place of pilgrim for Hindus for the sake of vote-bank, Municipal President is only denigrating Deity Viththal. Hindus, resist the traitors to Dharma, who are bent upon attacking your places of worship ! – Editor SP)
