HJS celebrates centenary of famous leap by Veer Savarkar

Nagpur (Maharashtra): The incident of Veer Savarkar leaping in the sea near Marseilles Port in France completed 100 years on 8th July 2010. A program was organized by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to commemorate the occasion at Shankarnagar Chowk.

The program began with lighting of 100 lamps and garlanding the statue of Swatantryaveer Savarkar. There were speeches by Mr. Veerendra Deshpande of ‘Savarkar Vichar Manch’, Mr. Mukund Pachkhede of Savarkar Smarak Samiti and Mr. Hemant Khatri of HJS, in the said program on the mission of Veer Savarkar.

The French Government had approached the Indian Government about 11 years back to know its views on construction of a memorial of Veer Savarkar at Marseilles Port. The Indian Government is yet to convey its views on the issue to its French counterpart. A signature drive was undertaken in this context today and a memorandum will be submitted to the President and the Prime Minister of India.

Program organized at Belgaum

Belgaum (Karnataka): ‘We must not make use of the body in self-interest but it should be used to protect our Nation. Our womenfolk should feel secure with us and the evil-doers should be afraid of us. Everyone must study the life history of Veer Savarkar. Every drop of blood in him was full of patriotism. His patriotism was selfless.’ The above views were expressed by Mr. Arjunrao Gaundadkar of RSS. He addressed the audience in a program organized in memory of the famous leap of Veer Savarkar at Belgaum in the capacity as the Chairman of the function.

Mr. Yellappa Patil of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) said that there was not a single sentence about Veer Savarkar in NCERT’s text book for 10th standard. The Government is deliberately paying no attention to construction of Savarkar’s memorial at Marseilles. This indicates its disloyalty towards the nation. The Government will continue to suppress us till we do not take them to task. Veer Savarkar should be created in every person and the ‘Savarkar’ already in people should be awakened.
