According to tradition at the temple in Thiruvanthapuram, women devotees have to wear a mundu (dhoti) over their waist if they are attired in salwars or churidars.
Just days after dress norms were relaxed for women at the famous Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, the Kerala High Court on Thursday ruled that women should not be allowed to wear salwar-kameez and churidars inside the temple, ANI reported.
According to tradition at the centuries-old temple in Thiruvanthapuram, women devotees have to wear a mundu (dhoti) over their waist if they are attired in salwars or churidars.
The practice was suspended recently by temple’s executive officer K N Sateesh following which several women had for the first time in history entered the temple in salwar-kameez and churidars on December 1. The move, however, sparked protests with many demanding that the age-old practice at the temple be restored.

disciplin being maintained during worship.
