Lecture on ‘Pitru-paksha’ held by HJS at Ernakulam

‘Jidnyasus’ listening to lecture by Kum. Aditi Sukhthankar

Ernakulam : A lecture on ‘Pitru-paksha’ was held on behalf of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) at Kuzikkat Bhagavati Mandir. Kum. Aditi Sukhthankar of HJS explained points related to applying ‘kumkum’, making prayers etc under the subject of ‘Dharmacharan’. The trustees of that temple took initiative in arranging the lecture and they have also made demand to hold weekly ‘satsangs’ now.

Highlights

Many people from Kerala have no knowledge about ‘Pitru-paksha’. They perform ‘shraddha’ on the new-moon day after ‘Shivaratri’ and ‘Guru-Pournima’. Science of performing ‘shraddha’ in Pitru-paksha and chanting the name of Lord Datta during ‘Pitru-paksha’ was explained to the participants and they immediately accepted it. They also showed interest in performing ‘shraddha- rites’ during the fortnight which was quite amazing.
