Initiate action against Commissioner, Officers and Employees of Municipal Corporation for playing with the lives of Ganesh devotees ! – Demand submitted to Deputy Commissioner, Municipal Corporation by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

Devout Hindus while submitting demand to Smt. Kavita Dwivedi, Deputy Commissioner, Municipal Corporation

Pune – An appeal was submitted, on behalf of HJS, to Smt.Kavita Dwivedi, Dy. Commissionner, Municipal Corporation for initiating action against the Commissioner, Officers and employees of the Municipal Corporation who jeopardised the lives of Ganesh devotees by not erecting protective barricades and repairing a dangerous bridge during immersion of Ganesh idols. Shri. Sunil Ghanvat, Maharashtra State Coordinator HJS, Shri. Chandrakant Bhonsle Advocate and Secy. Hindu Ekata Andolan, Sagar Shirodkar, Vijay Gawade and other devout Hindus were present. Smt. Dwivedi promised to convey sentiments of the Samiti to higher authority.

It was pointed out in this demand that on 7th September at Omkareshwar and Nene Ghat no facilities were provided to Shri Ganesh devotees to immerse idols in flowing water. The bridge connecting both the ghats was found to be a deathtrap. In many places the bridge had potholes large enough for an individual to fall in to the river through them. Many Ganesh devotees suffered physically as well as mentally due to negligence on the part of Commissioner, Officers and employees of the Municipal Corporation Hence immediate action should be taken against Kunal Kumar, Commissioner, Suresh Jagtap, Asst. Commissioner, Khillare, Asst. Commissioner, Vishrambag Area Office, Shri. Udas, Asst. Commissioner, Ghole Road Area Office, concerned Contractors and employees of the Corporation. This was submitted in the petition.
