A code of conduct needs to be followed by media

Mumbai : Shri. Rajendra Lanjwal, the Treasury of Lalbaug Ganesh Festival Committee has appealed to the media people to respect religious feelings when it comes to publishing news about festivals like Ganesh festival. He said that every care is taken to maintain the sanctity of the festival. That is the reason why millions of devotees are getting experiences just by taking ‘darshan’ of Lalbaug’s Ganapati.

Instead of publishing news to further increase the ‘bhava’ of people, the media persons are giving wrong news. The media needs to follow a code of conduct for publishing news about religious matters. He was expressing his opinion on the picture published in the daily ‘Mid Day’. Protests were registered even by other parties like Shiv Sena. The coordination committee for public celebration of Ganesh festival in Mumbai also protested against the cartoon of Lord Ganesh published in the daily newspaper ‘Mid-Day’. The President of the Coordination Committee said that it was really unfortunate that it was Hindus who were drawing such kind of pictures. The position is so bad that now there needs to be a set of Rules for media persons to follow. He said that the police should take a note of such matters and take legal action.
