Hindus celebrate Ganesh festival in Essex

London : Thousands of Hindus are expected to gather in Southend, Essex to celebrate Ganesh festival.

It will be for the second year running that the festival is being held after the organisers got a good response last year, according to www.thisisessex.com website.

"We are delighted to be back in Southend because last year’s event was a spectacular success," Jyoti Patel, one of the organising committee members, was quoted as saying.

"More than 3,000 people are expected to attend this year, making it the biggest Hindu celebration in the UK. We are especially pleased to be forging links with local communities and promoting one of Britain’s many religious beliefs," she added.
