Thane: Ban on HJS members for creating awareness in Ganesh Devotees

Thane (Maharashtra): Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) asked the Police Inspector of Naupada Police Station, Mr. Shashikant Rajhans, for permission to create awareness among Ganesh devotees about Ganesh Idol Immersion as per the science of Hindu Dharma and reason behind why they should not donate their Idols or immerse idols in Artificial water tanks. So he issued a notice to HJS members under Code number 149. It has been written in the notice that, ‘If HJS members will break section no. 149, then legal action will taken against them under the Indian Penal Code 188.’

In this case, HJS’ Thane Convener Mr. Ajay Sambhus & HJS member Mr. Prasanna Dhage had gone to ectmeet the Deputy Police Commissioner Mr. Ashok Deshbhratar and told him, “HJS members run their movement in peaceful way & we create awareness only by displaying hand held placards. So as there isn’t any objectionable matter, please grant us permission to create awareness among Ganesh devotees.” Then Mr. Deshbhratar angrily said, “Create whatever  awareness among people by going door-to-door to their homes & through the Ganeshotsav Mandal, but if HJS members try to create awareness among people at Masunda Lake (place of Ganesh Idol Immersion in Thane) then we will take action against you. You will conduct your program in peaceful way, but what if a 100 people stand behind you and the question of Law & Order arises, then who will be responsible for this? Creating awareness is not a tradition, so we will not give you permission for the same.” (Though terrorist activities are increasing day by day, the Police do not take steps to prevent those activities. But it does not grant permission to HJS members to create awarenes in Hindus as their ‘Sadhana’, in a peaceful way. If then devout Hindus stand firm in their decision to create awareness, what would be wrong with that? – Editor SP)

Police in Mumbai & Navi Mumbai also refuse permission!

Mumbai (Maharashtra): HJS asked for permission at various local Police Stations to be able to create awareness among Ganesh devotees about Ganesh Idol Immersion as per the Science of Hindu Dharma and for this reason, they should not donate their Idols or immerse them in artificial water tanks. Police stations in Vashi & Vile Parle refused permission for law & order reasons. RTO Police officer R. R. Pawar said, “We can’t issue permission in written form against the administration. So HJS members will not be allowed to create awareness, against the administration’s efforts, near the artificial water tanks is Dahisar & Malad."
