Pune (Maharashtra): The Mahasrahtra Andhashraddha Nirumlan Samiti (ANS) had, on 31st August, issued a press note which contains baseless allegations on the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). ANS has not only falsely alleged HJS, but it has also raised questions about the efficiency of the police & the administration. ANS has also attempted to insult the H’ble Supreme Court by misinterpreting the decision given by the Supreme Court to their convenience.

The HJS is seeking legal opinion to take action against the ANS for falsely implicating it. Taking into consideration the continual success of HJS’ campaigns year after year and the faith of Ganesh devotees on the science of Righteousness (Dharmashastra), there is no need for the HJS to provide any clarification about ANS’ false allegations on it. However, it is said that ‘The one who tolerates injustice is guiltier than the one inflicting it’; thus the HJS is giving the following clarification.

Activists of ‘Samarpan’ organization were persuading Ganesh devotees to donate their Ganesh Idols at Moraya Ghat, Chinchwad. At this time, one Ganesh devotee, Mr. Vishwas Inamdar, sought help of HJS members present on the spot, as activists of ‘Samarpan’ were forcing him to donate his Ganesh Idol. At the same time a police official rushed on the spot. When Mr. Inamdar explained this incidence to the police official, he informed his senior police, Sub-Inspector Mr. Mahadev Todale. Mr. Todale intervened and told ‘Samarpan’ & ANS activists not to force Ganesh devotees to donate Ganesh Idols; thus hurting their sentiments. After this, ‘Samarpan’ & ANS activists fleed away from the spot.

ANS, in its press note, has mentioned that ‘Samarpan’ & ANS hired a vehicle at their own expense to move Ganesh Idols. This information raises questions about the efficiency of the PMC administration. Will PMC take action against ANS for defamation?

In Pune, HJS members educated Ganesh devotees by explaining to them the science behind immersing Ganesh idols in flowing water. Many devotees immersed idols in flowing water & many immersed idols in artificial water tanks. HJS members didn’t oppose devotees who immersed idols in water tanks. Many media persons came onto the  Ghat to get information about HJS’ campaign. Inspite of this, the ANS, in its press note, has published misleading information that ‘Almost all Ganesh devotees immersed idols in water tanks’, thus falsely praising their own efforts.

A Court case (Case no. WP/5644/2005) on the topic ‘Is Ganesh Idol Immersion responsible for pollution of rivers?’ is still pending before the Aurangabad Bench of the High Court. The Court had asked the Maharashtra Govt. to give explanation about this issue in 12 weeks on 9th September 2008; however the Govt. has not yet given any explanation on the same. Although this case is pending with the High Court, the ANS appealed to the PMC Administration to display boards with the matter ‘As per directions of H’ble Supreme Court, Ganesh devotees should immerse Ganesh idols in artificial water tanks instead of rivers to prevent water pollution.’ Thus, the ANS has openly insulted the H’ble Supreme Court. The Hindu Janajgruti Samiti has openly protested against all of the ANS’ false & baseless allegations.
