Mangaon (Maharashtra): The public celebration of Sree Ganesh festival originally started by Lokmanya Tilak, has taken on a perverted form in the present times. In fact, instead of honouring God, denigration of the Nation and Dharma takes place through these celebrations. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), therefore, presented a proposal to 'Krantinagar Ganeshotsava Mandal' for celebrating the festival in an ideal manner. The proposal was welcomed by the Committee and it was unanimously decided to celebrate the Ganesh Festival in an ideal manner. As a part of these celebrations, various programs will be held daily like discourses, singing of ballads (powadas), keertans, demonstrations of the use of sticks and canes in self-defence etc.

On getting to know about the celebrations of the festival by the above Committee, even 'Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Mandal' of Nizampur approached HJS and requested them to organise programs related to the Nation and Dharma. Accordingly, HJS would be organising such discourses during the festival. These Ganesh Committees have also placed an order for HJS 'display boards’ (phalaks) on various topics like :

  • 'Dharma-shikshan (Knowledge about Dharma)',
  • Matter related to developing respect towards the Marathi language,
  • Preventing improper practices taking place during the festival etc.

Other Ganesh Committees can also learn and follow the example of the above Ganesha Committees.
