HJS campaign against improper practices during Ganesha Festival

Assurance from Ganeshotsava Committees to Celebrate the Festival as per the Science after Guidance from HJS

Mumbai(Maharashtra): Every year, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) undertakes a campaign against improper practices adopted by Ganeshotsava Committees in celebrating the festival wherein guidance is given to the Committees on the proper, scientific method of celebrating the festival. Few members of HJS viz. Pavan Tandel, Milind Poshe, Ganesh Dukhande, Mahesh Belalekar and Jadhav paid a visit to Ganeshotsava Committees of ‘Someshwar Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Mandal’, Dharavi, ‘Postachi Galli Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Mandal’, Parel and ‘Sainath Bal Ganeshotsava Mandal’ at Sion and talked to them about the malpractices taking place during the festival. The office bearers of these Committees were shown the VCD prepared by Sanatan Sanstha titled ‘Ganeshotsava: Reality and Ideal’. Pamphlets published by HJS on Ganeshotsava giving guidance on ‘What should be done and what should be avoided’ were also distributed. The Committee members assured them that the festival should be celebrated as per the science.

It has been decided to show the VCD on ‘Ganesha Samagra Darshan’ to Committee members at Parel as also to those celebrating the festival individually at their home. On watching the VCD, the Committee members asked for programs that could be held during the 5 days to celebrate the festival in an ideal manner. They also promised to print details of such programs in their pamphlets. They asked for display-boards on ‘Dharma-shikshan’. Few Committee members viz. Pravin Khole, Sanjay Pawar, Prasad Adate expressed their resolve to prevent improper practices and celebrate the festival as per the science so as to maintain the sanctity of the festival. The Committee members of Dharavi Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Mandal were explained about the present position of the Nation and Dharma so also the malpractices taking place during the festival.

On watching the VCD on the topic, almost every Committee member quite frankly agreed that such improper things were taking place and assured that since they know the science now, the festival would be celebrated in an ideal manner. Their doubts were clarified by HJS members. Circulars on ‘What should be done and what should be avoided’ while celebrating the festival were also handed over which were later distributed to 50 residents from the buildings. Few Committee members who took efforts to organise the program with HJS were Mr. Pote, Shetye, Gajanan and Mr. Sonawane. They also asked for 10 display boards to exhibit during the festival. Sainath Mandal from Sion too placed their demand for a display board on ‘Dharma–shikshan’.
