Why is Ganesh idol made of clay only scientific?

Know more facts about Lord Ganesha

Science behind immersion of Ganesh idols in water sources like River & Sea is that ‘Sattva’ particles, which exist in Lord Ganesh idol of clay spread all over by the medium of water. So to immerse Ganesh Idol in artificial water tank is against Science of Idol Immersion as prescribed in Hindu Dharma!
Mumbai: Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC) has been undertaking a scheme for the last few years to build artificial water reservoirs at various places in the city for immersion of Sree Ganesha idols. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has, however, opposed the scheme as it is against the science prescribed in Hindu Dharma. A representation was submitted today to Mr. Uddhav Thackeray, the chief executive of Shiv Sena, Mr. Sanjay Raut, its leader, Mayor of Mumbai Dr. Shubha Raul and to the secretary of Mumbai Police Commissioner, Mr. D. Sivanandan. HJS’ opposition to artificial water tanks also has support from Mr. Rahul Shevale, a municipal councilor of Shiv Sena in MMC and he has written to Dr. Jayaraj Phatak, the commissioner of MMC to see to it that religious sentiments of Hindus are not hurt. Letter from Shiv Sena MMC councilor to the Commissioner

Misuse of water and money

In a letter obtained from Maharashtra Pollution Control Board under the ‘Right to Information’ provision, it has been disclosed that water does not get polluted due to immersion of Sree Ganesha idols made of ‘Plaster of Paris’. Mr. Jayesh Vartak a scientist formerly working with ‘Srushti Eco Research Institute’, Dr. Vishwambhar Chaudhary, the President of ‘Oasis Environmental Consultants’ have conducted research in the matter and put forth the inference that immersion of idols does not cause pollution. Even then, MMC wants to build artificial water reservoirs in the name of pollution. Nowadays, there is shortage of water besides, there is financial crunch; in such situation, building artificial water reservoirs is nothing but wastage of water and money, says HJS in its representation.
