Demonstration against offensive matter about the great revolutionaries

Democratic Youth Organisation (DYO)’s ‘squatting’ demonstration

In one of the lessons in this years’ syllabus for Xth standard (English medium), there is offensive matter about the great revolutionaries like Bhagatsingh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. Recently, on behalf of DYO, ‘squatting’ demonstration was organized to protest against the insult meted out to these revolutionaries and a representation was submitted to the Government for exclusion of that portion from the lesson.

In the book included by ICSE publishing company for their Xth standard syllabus (English medium), there is a lesson titled ‘Revival of Terrorism’. In this lesson, there is objectionable matter about the great freedom fighters Shahid Bhagatsingh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. DYO, therefore, organized ‘squatting’ demonstration and demanded that the controversial portion may be excluded from the lesson as it can create misunderstanding in students’ minds about these great revolutionaries. They also demanded that the publishers should tender a public apology. The demonstration ended with submission of a representation to the Government. The representation was accepted by Shri Guruchal, the Resident Collector on behalf of the Govt. and he promised the demonstrators thathe would convey their feelings to the Govt.
