Sweden Ganesha Temple completing 16 years

Sweden Ganesha Temple (SGT) will be completing 16 years on January 26.SGT, in Farsta, a borough in the southern part of Stockholm Municipality, opens on Tuesdays, Fridays and some other special days and conducts various poojas. It organizes many Hindu festivals also.

Its mission includes: “To be a centre of learning about Hinduism for people from all faiths” and to be a center of learning for Vedas, Bharatha Natyam and classical music.
 
Meanwhile, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commended efforts of temple leaders and area community for their efforts towards enlightening the interested about Hinduism and its message of peace, love and harmony.
 
Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that the temple would focus in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of Self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.
 
Sripathy Vinayagamoorthy, Sothynathan Sinnaiah, Pamathy Selvakkathiramalai and Sritharan Subramaniyam are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively of SGT; while B. Mohan is the Priest. Its membership is 200 SEK/month and it has an Arts Committee also.
 
In Hinduism, Lord Ganesha is worshipped as god of wisdom and remover of obstacles and is invoked before the beginning of any major undertaking. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal.
