HJS drive to prevent abuse of National Flags

Announcement to be made on railway stations in Mumbai from 11th August for maintaining honour of National Flags !

Representations submitted to the Govt. and Administration for implementation of Mumbai High Court orders

Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed by HJS in Mumbai High Court for prevention of abuse of national flags taking place on Independence Day. The Court directed the State Govt. to take action for prevention of abuse of national flags. Accordingly, circulars were issued by Central Home Department and Maharashtra Home and Education Departments. High Court has directed Government to set up action committees at district and taluka levels for this purpose with inclusion of NGOs under which it is expected that awareness would be created through various media to stop abuse of national flags taking place owing to use of plastic national flags. HJS has submitted representations and undertaken drives for prevention of abuse of national flags.

Representation submitted by HJS delegation to resident District Collector

Mumbai : On 4th August 2015, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) submitted a representation to Shri. Alok Badkul, Manager (Commerce) of Central Railway, Senior Circle, Mumbai requesting to create awareness amongst commuters towards prevention of abuse of National Flags and generate patriotism amongst them. Shri. Badkul promised to make announcements on all stations of Central Railway to create such awareness. He said that announcements would be made from 11th August and the message of maintaining honour of National flags would be conveyed to commuters.” Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the Coordinator of HJS, its members Shri. Satish Sonar and Sou. Nayana Bhagat were present on the occasion. Representations submitted to CM and other responsible officers in different departments

Committee set up at Grampanchayat level to prevent abuse of national flags ! – Shri. Dhanavade, Secretary, Department of Protocol

On 3rd August, representations were submitted on behalf of HJS to State Chief Minister, Shri. Chandrashekhar Oke, Director General, Department of Information and Public Relations, Shri. Kailash Gaikwad, Joint Secretary, Home Department and Shri. Dhanavade, Dy. Secretary, Department of Protocol. It was informed that ‘the Government has set up committees at Panchayat levels with Gram-sevaks, Principals of schools, Talathi, Sarpanch, Police Patil as members. At District and city levels, decision will soon be taken for forming such committees.’

HJS help would be taken for creating awareness through video-conferencing in schools ! – Sou. Snehal Ambekar, Mayor, Mumbai

A representation for implementation of High Court orders was submitted to Mayor, Sou. Snehal Ambekar on 5th August. She promised to issue press release and write to the Government in the matter. 400 schools would be given guidance jointly through virtual class room (video conferencing) and help would be taken of HJS members for giving speeches on the subject. She was happy to know about different drives undertaken by HJS and promised that Municipal Corporation would extend help to HJS programs on protection of nation. Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the Coordinator of HJS, its members Shri. Satish Sonar, Sou. Nayana Bhagat and Shri. Maruti More were present on the occasion.   

Mumbai’s Resident District Collector given representation and requested to include HJS in action committee !

Shri. Thorat, a Resident District Collector accepted representation submitted by delegation of HJS on 5th August. He was informed that VCD made by HJS to create awareness amongst people on the subject would be made available for telecasting on local cable networks and in theatres. Request was made to form action committee as per the orders issued by High Court and circular issued by Home Department in December 2014 at district and taluka levels for prevention of abuse of national flags and for inclusion of HJS members in such committees representing non-government and social organizations. Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the Coordinator of HJS, its members Shri. Satish Sonar and Sou. Nayana Bhagat were present on the occasion.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) gives instructions to Director General of Police (DGP)

IGP, Shri. Prabhat Kumar of ‘Law and Order’ Department of Maharashtra has given instructions to the Assistant DGP to implement as per the directions given in circular issued in December 2014 and on 14th June 2015 to all police stations; based on HJS representation. DGP was informed about PIL filed by HJS and its drive for prevention of abuse of national flags. Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the Coordinator of HJS, its members Shri. Satish Sonar and Sou. Nayana Bhagat were present on the occasion. Representation was also submitted to Shri. Rakesh Maria, Mumbai Police Commissioner.
