Police refused permission to SS for ‘prasar’ using loudspeaker

Kalyan (Maharashtra): On the day of Anant Chaturdashi, Sanatan Sanstha was to undertake a drive involving creating awareness among people on an ideal way of taking out procession and immersing idols. Such drive is being undertaken every year by Sanatan.

The Sanstha had applied to Bazarpeth police station for permission to use loudspeakers; but Shri. Subhash Patil, a senior inspector did not grant the permission. When seekers requested him to give his refusal in writing, he was not ready even for that. Seekers were asked to use ‘mega phones’ instead of loudspeakers. He also warned the seekers that if anything objectionable was found in the books or in the slogans raised or appeal made by them or if anyone took objection, action would be taken against them. Although seekers had gone to meet Shri. Patil at the appointed time, Shri. Patil made them wait outside instead of calling them in his office for discussions and while leaving his office, before getting into the car, he spoke to the seekers very hurriedly in the above manner. (The Government is not doing anything for creating awareness among people; moreover, such type of treatment is meted out to the voluntary organizations who want to do something, at their own cost, for betterment of society. This is not the way to behave in a democratic country but a sign of dictatorship – Editor) A well-wisher of the Sanstha had offered his bloc to Sanatan for using it during immersion time. Police asked for a copy of NOC of the owner of the bloc. Accordingly, seekers furnished the NOC to the police; but still police refused permission (If permission was not to be granted, why make a farce of completing formalities? – Editor)
