What does Shiv Sena has to say about Mayor forcing to make bricks from Ganesha idols?

Mumbai : Under the influence of environmentalists, who always raise their voice against pollution only during Hindu festivals, Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC) has taken it upon itself to hurt religious sentiments of Hindus by taking anti-Hindu decision of using the immersed clay in artificial water tanks for trees in municipal gardens. After such decision, now Dr. Shubha Raul, the mayor of Mumbai has declared that it is compulsory to use Plaster of Paris (PoP) collected from artificial water tanks after immersion of Sree Ganesha idols for manufacture of bricks. (Under rule no. 7 of the circular MD/9629/ Gen. Dated 25.7.2008 issued by MMC, it has been mentioned that after the immersion of idols when water from artificial tanks percolates into the surrounding land, dissolved Sree Ganesha idols and remnants of idols will be carried carefully maintaining their sanctity and immersed in sea/ ponds i.e. at proper immersion sites. Even then, anti-Dharma MMC is not observing its own rules and is bent upon hurting religious sentiments of Hindus – Editor)

Mayor informed few journalists about the above decision. This year, MMC has constructed 25 artificial water tanks. Shri. Madhav Sangale, the joint Commissioner of MMC had earlier informed in a press conference that the immersed idols would be re-immersed in deep sea with reverence. When Dr. Raul was asked about the rule, she said that remnants of immersed idols would not be re-immersed. Voluntary organizations will manufacture bricks from these remains. This year, there is good response from people for immersion of idols in artificial water tanks and people feel that the remains should be re-used. (MMC is misrepresenting people! – Editor) The mayor said further that it would be made compulsory to make bricks from the PoP from the remnants of idols. A work shop is going to be organised after immersion of Sree Ganesha idols on how to make bricks from PoP. Training will be given by experts to social voluntary organizations and interested people. These brick can be used for construction of temple or in ‘bhumi-pujan’ etc.

Only 6706 idols out of 134207 idols immersed in artificial water tanks Failure of MMC’s immersion drive!

Mumbai : This year, falling prey to pressure tactics of environmentalists, MMC undertook a drive to immerse Sree Ganesha idols brought by individual families in artificial water tanks. In 25 such water tanks erected all over Mumbai, out of 1,34,207 immersed during 7 days of the festival, only 6706 have been immersed in artificial water tanks. Most of the devotees preferred to immerse idols in sea and lake waters. MMC’s campaign has not been successful so far. The data published by MMC indicates that prudent devotees have not paid heed to MMC’s appeal for immersion in artificial water tanks.
