Municipal staff gets upset because of unenthusiastic response to the immersion of idols in artificial water tanks. Then municipal staff started fighting to Hindu Janjagruti Samiti’s volunteers as the consolidation of this whole issue. (Ganesh devotees are not willing to donate or immerse their idols in artificial tank this itself is a lesson to Municipal Corporation and their staff! – Editor) The domestic Gauris and Ganpatis were immersed in river water with divine emotions.

On S.M. Joshi Bridge almost 95-96 % Ganesh devotee’s followed the righteous way by immersing idols in river. At the same time volunteers of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti were educating devotees and distributing pamphlets about the spiritual science behind the immersion of Ganesh idols in flowing water. One of the municipal workers came and started wrangling and demanded the volunteers to leave from that place. The worker gathered a crowed and started shouting at volunteers to stop this campaign. Some time later concern officer interfered and allowed HJS volunteers to distribute pamphlets.  After this incidence there was a remarkable increase in the immersion of Ganesh idols in river.

S.N.D.T students accepted their mistake

Giving reason of pollution the B.Ed. students of S.N.D.T. College were telling people to immerse idols in artificial water tanks. After the volunteers educated those students they said, we just wanted to collect flowers and offerings which gone useless, some of us might have mistakenly told this to somebody and went away.

Massive response to Hindu Janjagruti’s campaign at other places

Hindu Janjagruti Samiti carried out the same campaigns at S. M. Joshi Bridge, Nene Ghat, Omkareshwar temple, Baba Bhide Bridge, Vruddheshwar Ghat where a huge response to this campaign was seen.  Only 10 – 15 % people were immersing the Ganesh idols in artificial tanks, other wise most of the devotees did follow the righteous ways and immersed idols in river.

Thought of one of the senior official of leading news paper in Pune

A senior official of a leading news paper did immersion of their Ganpati in the river. When we asked him about the controversy between immersion in artificial water reservoir (tank) and river he said that let the devotees decide about it. As a devotee I did the immersion in the flowing water. There should not be any problem or harm for anybody while taking such decision.
