Mumbai : All social organizations that make so much noise about environment, pollution and science, may not be believers in God. Shri. Rahul Shevale, municipal councilor of Shiv Sena made an appeal that all Ganesha devotees should immerse Sree Ganesha idols in flowing water as per science rather than donating them to Andha-shraddha Nirmulan Samiti (ANS) as advocated by ANS.
Organization like ANS starts campaign like donation of idols but sometimes there can be denigration of idols. Municipality has made arrangements for immersion of idols brought by individuals by constructing artificial water tanks for preservation of ecology. The parts of idols remain in water tanks after immersion. Such parts and soil is then taken 3 kms deep into the sea by maintaining its sanctity; thus the purpose of having artificial water tanks is not served. It is, therefore, better to immerse the idols in pond or sea water.
