Desecration of Ganesha Idols while re-immersing

Thane (Maharashtra): Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) built artificial water tanks to immerse Sree Ganesha idols near the lakes for preservation of these lakes. People immersed Sree Ganesha idols in the water tanks and once again there was desecration of the idols while re-immersing them. (Ganesh-devotees should take anti-Hindu TMC to task for desecrating Sree Ganesha idols under the guise of re-immersion. – Editor) Last year, the idols were thrown from the bridge in the creek near Saket Housing Complex. This year, HJS had given a representation to the Municipal Commissioner and Mayor to prevent such desecration of idols. HJS was assured that all idols to be re-immersed will be kept on big plastic sheets in trucks; but despite the promise, there was desecration of idols. (TMC has insulted Ganesh-devotees in a way and have not kept its word. – Editor) Near Upavan talao, Rayladevi talao and a few other ponds, artificial tanks have been constructed by TMC and Sree Ganesh idols acceptance centres have been set up. As TMC promised devotees that the idols would be immersed as per the science at Parasik Retibunder, devotees were handing over their idols to the staff of TMC. On 22nd September, the idols were taken out from artificial water tanks and were thrown in the dumpers. The idols were also dumped on each other so that more idols could be accommodated. The dumpers full of idols were taken to Parasik Retibunder and turned upside down to remove idols as is done with dumpers carrying sand. The idols therefore, drifted down and were re-immersed by throwing them in the creek by the municipality’s workers.
