ANS workers run away as Shiv Sainiks protest

By Staff Reporter

Kolhapur (Maharashtra): With the acclamation of ‘Ganapati Bappa Morya, Pudhachya Varshi Lavakar Yaa’, devotees immersed Sree Ganesha idols in flowing water, in the traditional manner as per the science. Earlier in Mauje Kaulage, Gadhinglaj, Nool, Inchnaal and Tanavadi villages, people use to donate the idols. But members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti enlightened people on the science behind immersion and after the 5th day, immersion of idols that took place was 100 %. Shri. Madhukar Nazare said that it was the result of ‘Dharma-shikshan’ and unity among Hindus. A few workers of ANS and students had gone to Gadhinglaj to accept idols as donations; but owing to the opposition of Shiv Sainks, ANS members had to run away.

Representations were submitted by Hindu organizations to the municipality and police for prohibiting ANS and similar organizations from carrying out their ‘Idol-donation’ drive. Meetings of the concerned parties were conducted at the police stations. Police had given orders that nobody should force anyone to donate idols and to even display banners propagating donation of idols. However, at Panchganga Ghat 125 idols, at Rankala lake 125 idols and at Kotiteertha 85 idols were collected by way of donation. (Hindus must ensure that henceforth, anti-Hindu organization like ANS does not get a single idol – Editor).

At Gargoti, this year, only 7 idols were received by ANS as donation as against 25-30 idols collected every year due to the information given by HJS and the digital board displayed at the site of immersion. Members of ANS, however, left the idols there and went away and even the police left the place. Finally, members of HJS immersed those idols in a traditional manner. (Hindus must not forget such anti-Hindu ANS and police – Editor)
