No pollution due to immersion: PCB confesses to HJS

Kolhapur (Maharashtra): The Pollution Control Board (PCB) had appealed to people for donation of Sree Ganesha idols claiming that immersion of the idols in flowing water caused pollution. Shri. V. L. Korde, the Zonal Officer of the Board has now clarified that such appeal was made inadvertently and no pollution is caused due to immersion of idols in water. The colours used for idols can cause pollution when dissolved in water and people should take care. It is declared by the Board that it was not their purpose to hurt religious sentiments of anyone. The explanation was given to Shri. Madhukar Nazare of HJS through a circular letter. (How can PCB make such mistake when all machinery is available with them? – Editor)
