PMC must not launch ‘Donation of Ganesha idols’ drive: HJS

By Staff Reporter

Pune (Maharashtra): It is basically against the science of spirituality to donate Sree Ganesha idols and therefore, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) must not support such drives. The above demand was made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) with PMC in a letter when a delegation of HJS called on Mrs. Rajalakshmi Bhosale, the Mayor and Shri. Pravin Sinh Pardeshi, the Commissioner.

Anti-Hindu organizations like ANS are spreading false propaganda that immersion of idols cause pollution and are misguiding Ganesha devotees. On top of that, now PMC is distributing pamphlets appealing people to donate Sree Ganesha idols and adding to confusion. (Without knowing the science, PMC is advising people to donate Sree Ganesha idols and making people drift away from following the practice as prescribed in Dharma. – Editor)

Immersion does not cause pollution and it has been proved by scientists a number of times through experiments. Reports published on the experiments are also available. The famous ‘Srushti Eco Research Institute’ had also conducted tests on water before and after immersion of Sree Ganesha idols and has proved that no pollution is caused due to immersion of idols. Even the ‘Air Quality Management Cell’ of PMC has also carried out such tests and found that immersion of idols does not cause pollution. An appeal has therefore, been made by HJS that PMC should not get carried away by ANS propaganda and publish advertisements or orders in favour of donation of idols.

Shri. Nandkumar Ekbote of VHP, Shri. Vilas Dixit of Hindu Mahasabha and members of HJS and Sanatan Sanstha were present to submit the representation.
