Objection to PMC’s appeal for donation of Sree Ganesh idols

Pune (Maharashtra): A meeting was held at the main hall of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) between committees celebrating Ganeshotsava and police. PMC had appealed to people for donation of Sree Ganesh idols instead of immersion. People have demanded that PMC should not ask people to donate Ganesh idols as it is against the science of immersion of idols. Members of committees also complained in the meeting that police did not cooperate with them during the immersion processions of the idol and the water level of the river was less. Police clarified from their side that if committee members behave properly and abide by the law, police will extend all the cooperation. Police also warned committee members and citizens about the terrorists’ threats and advised them to be vigilant.

On the other hand, Mrs. Rajalakshmi Bhosale, mayor of Pune informed that PMC will make arrangement for more water tanks for immersion and appealed to Ganesh Mandals to cooperate with the police. (When Sree Ganesh idols are immersed in flowing water, the particles charged with Ganesh principle, beneficial to mankind, flow with the water to far off places. The mayor trying to make arrangements for immersion of idols in artificial water tanks without knowing the science and should be taken to task. – Editor)
