Rome, Italy – A proposal will soon be presented before the Cabinet to legally establish a cap on the maximum number of foreign students permitted in each classroom. Alongside this, learning the Italian language will be made mandatory for the parents of foreign students who face serious difficulties integrating into the school system. In addition, the burqa and niqab will be banned in schools, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced while addressing an event here.
Young girls cannot keep themselves concealed in the name of traditions
Meloni stated that students must attend school with an uncovered face, adding that in Italy, no one can decide to keep a young girl veiled or covered up in the name of any genuine or so-called tradition.
Those wishing to build their future in Italy must learn the language
Meloni further clarified that if there is only one child in a classroom who does not understand Italian, that child can quickly pick up the language with the support of classmates and teachers and integrate smoothly with everyone. However, if there are many children who do not understand the language, it ceases to be integration and instead turns into neglect. Anyone who wishes to build a future in Italy must learn the language, understand our culture, and respect our laws.
