Vishwa Hindu Parishad demands action against those promoting eating beef for infants

Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra – The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has demanded that a case be registered for hurting religious sentiments against those who put up posters in the municipal hospital here advising that infants aged 9 to 11 months be fed beef. They have submitted a memorandum in this regard at the Vashi Police station. The posters in this regard were torn down by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists.

The memorandum states,
1. On June 14th, activist Rohit Khandagale went to the Municipal Corporation Hospital in Vashi. At that time, he saw a poster on the wall of the hospital titled ‘Complementary Feeding Guide for Age 9 to 11 Months’ by ‘Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP)- IYCF Department’.
2. It clearly mentioned finely chopped meat (chicken, mutton, beef). The cow is considered sacred in Hindu Dharma. Therefore, consumption of beef is considered contrary to Hindu religious beliefs. Advising a child to eat beef is highly condemnable and hurts the religious sentiments of crores of Hindus. Putting up such a poster in a public place seems to be a deliberate attempt to provoke religious sentiments.
3. A case should be registered against the Indian Academy of Pediatrics and those responsible for putting up the posters, and strict legal action should be taken against them. Orders should be issued to remove these objectionable posters immediately.
- It is an absolute outrage that such offensive advice is being given in a holy land where Gau Mata is deeply revered! Would these authorities have ever dared to trample upon the religious sentiments of other communities in this manner?
- Why has a situation arisen where devout Hindus are forced to submit a memorandum just to demand justice for our sacred symbols? It is deeply unfortunate and unacceptable that this betrayal is taking place despite a strict anti-cow slaughter law already being in force across the State!
