Vishwa Hindu Parishad presents its stand on this Anti-Hindu Act

Mumbai – Neither the British nor the Congress interfered in the management of temples. The Devasthan holds the ownership rights to Inam (gifted) land. Therefore, trustees have no right to sell Devasthan’s Inam land. The ‘Devasthan Inam Abolition Act’ is anti-Hindu. Consequently, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has demanded that the government scrap this Act. Shri. Mohan Salekar, Secretary of Konkan Region for Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and Shri. Mahesh Bhagwat of the ‘Chitta Mandir Vikas Foundation’, presented this position during a press conference held at the ‘Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh’ on 4 June.

Shri. Mohan Salekar said, “A delegation from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad recently met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and submitted a proposal containing the above demand. In 2020, while delivering the verdict on Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, the Supreme Court gave an important judgement stating that the deity itself is the owner of the Devasthan’s land. Inam lands were given to run the management of the Devasthan. The transfer of Devasthan land for the benefit of tenants or occupants is improper.
Devotees should register their suggestions and objections regarding the proposal of this Act. It is inappropriate to destroy thousands of years of tradition by transferring Devasthan’s Inam lands. The government is making laws only regarding Hindu temples. The government does not take a stand regarding the lands of other religious institutions. This discrimination is unconstitutional. Therefore, the government must withdraw the draft of this Act. Maximum number of Hindus should register their suggestions and objections to oppose this draft.
The government must remove encroachments on temple lands! – Mahesh Bhagwat
Encroachments have been made on the lands of many temples. If the encroachments on temple lands are removed, that land can be used for good causes. The government must remove these encroachments. The government should look at the encroachments on temple lands with utmost seriousness.
