Stop illegal animal slaughter in housing societies during Bakri Eid

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Spokesperson, Ramesh Shinde urges government action over Supreme Court violations and public health risks

Mumbai – The Supreme Court has ordered that animals must not be slaughtered within housing societies; yet, in Muslim-majority areas like Mira-Bhayandar, animals are still being brought into housing complexes to be slaughtered for Bakri Eid.

Shri. Ramesh Shinde, National Spokesperson of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, has urged the administration to intervene and halt this illegal animal slaughter during Bakri Eid. He addressed media representatives regarding this matter during an interview at the Mantralaya on 26 May.

On this occasion, Shri. Ramesh Shinde said, “During Bakri Eid, goats are brought into residential complexes and slaughtered there. The resulting blood-contaminated water is then discharged into the surrounding areas, creating unsanitary conditions and risking the spread of diseases. The administration should take this matter seriously.”

Where are those who raise an outcry over pollution during Hindu festivals now?

Shri. Ramesh Shinde raised a poignant question, “During Hindu festivals such as Holi and Ganeshotsav, Bollywood celebrities and self-proclaimed progressive groups are quick to raise concerns about environmental pollution and call for restrictions. Why do these same voices remain silent now, failing to address the health hazards and disease outbreaks caused by blood-contaminated water from the illegal slaughter of animals during Bakri Eid?”
