Held on the occasion of Women’s Day at Vivekanand Education Society’s Polytechnic College, Chembur

Mumbai – On the occasion of Women’s Day, a guidance lecture on the subject of ‘women’s safety’ was organised at Vivekanand Education Society’s Polytechnic College in Chembur. On this occasion, Smt. Dhanashree Kelshikar of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti addressed the female students of the college. Around 120 students and the Principal of the College were present.

During the session, trainer Shri. Raj Jadhav demonstrated practical self-defence techniques. An informative short film on self-defence training, produced by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, was also screened. The programme boosted the confidence of the students, and many expressed their willingness to undergo self-defence training.

In her guidance, Smt. Dhanashree Kelshikar said that Bharat’s history has witnessed many valiant and accomplished women. Exemplary figures such as Rajmata Jijau, Rani Lakshmibai, Rani Chennamma and Mata Ahilyadevi have set inspiring ideals. In the present era as well, women like astronaut Sunita Williams and the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, have brought pride to the nation.
She further stated that, considering the current circumstances, women’s safety is extremely important. Every young girl and woman should undergo self-defence training and be prepared to protect herself as well as society.

After attending the lecture and witnessing the self-defence demonstrations, many students expressed eagerness to enrol for training.
