Stone-pelting during Hindu religious procession in Bengaluru; two women injured

Bengaluru, Karnataka – Two women devotees were injured after stones were pelted at a Hindu religious procession in the Chamarajpet area of Bengaluru on Sunday evening.

According to officials, the procession organised by the Om Shakti group was passing through the locality when miscreants hurled stones at the devotees. Two women sustained head injuries and were rushed for medical treatment. 

Following the incident, members of Hindu organisations approached the police and lodged a complaint, demanding strict action against those responsible. Police confirmed that three boys, all around 15 years of age, have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Later, agitated devotees gathered outside the Jagjivan Ram Nagar Police Station and staged a protest, alleging that similar incidents had occurred earlier and demanding the registration of a First Information Report (FIR).

Police stated that an FIR has since been registered and an investigation is underway. Security has been tightened in the area. Yatish N. B., Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Division), visited the police station to review the situation. Authorities have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken against those found responsible.
