Demand for strict action against radicals for desecrating Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj banner

Pro-Hindus submitting a memorandum to Resident Deputy Collector Gajanan Gurav.

Kolhapur, Maharashtra – In Kumbhoj town, Kolhapur district, two individuals, Imam Mujawar and Zakir Mujawar, tore down and desecrated a banner depicting a proposed memorial for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Following the incident, the accused used disrespectful language when confronted by local activists, arrogantly questioning the need to show reverence to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. A case has been registered at the Hatkanangale Police Station against the two accused individuals.

A delegation from the Sakal Hindu Samaj met with Resident Deputy Collector Gajanan Gurav to submit a memorandum demanding stringent legal action against the individuals.

Notable attendees during the submission of memorandum included, Shri. Deepak Desai (District President, Hindu Ekta Andolan), Shri. Shivanand Swami (Hindu Janajagruti Samiti), Shri. Ajit Devmore (Gram Panchayat Member, Kumbhoj), Shri. Niranjan Shinde (Founder, Maharaja Pratishthan), Shri. Ashok Gurav (Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh), representatives from the Hindu Mahasabha and other local Hindu organisations. 

Key demands

The memorandum states that this act constitutes a grave insult to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the architect of Hindavi Swarajya and a premier national icon. It further demands that the law be amended to include a provision for 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for anti-national and anti-social elements who jeopardise public peace and security by insulting national icons and symbols..
