A 500-year wait ends: Dharma Dhwaj hoisted atop the Ayodhya Ram Mandir

Ayodhya – The saffron flag has been successfully hoisted atop the spire of the magnificent Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir constructed in Ayodhya.

Prime Minister Modi performed the religious flag-hoisting ceremony at an auspicious time, with the Dharma Dhwaj measuring 22 feet long, 11 feet wide, and weighing approximately 3 kilograms. The flag is inscribed with the Koovidar tree, the radiant sun, which is a symbol of the Suryavanshi lineage, and the sacred symbol ‘Om’.

Around 7000 people from across the country witnessed this historic moment at the programme, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, and Governor Anandiben Patel. Prior to the hoisting, Prime Minister Modi paid his respects to the Saptarishis at the Saptamandir and performed the Aarti of Shri Ram.

CM Yogi recalls Ayodhya flag hoisting in Lucknow

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recalled the Ayodhya flag-hoisting event at a programme in Lucknow. He stated that the eternal saffron flag of Bharat has been raised today on the spire of the Shri Ram Mandir. He added that this is the very same Saffron Flag for whose protection Sikh Gurus and their generations made the ultimate sacrifice. Chief Minister Yogi attended a ‘Special Gurumati Samagam’ organised in Lucknow on the occasion of the 350th Martyrdom Day of the ninth Guru of the Sikh faith, Guru Shri Tegh Bahadur Ji Maharaj, known as ‘Hind Di Chadar’ (Shield of India). During the programme, he paid homage to the sacred memory of Guru Shri Tegh Bahadur Ji Maharaj.

A profoundly moving experience, says PM Modi

Following the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his feelings.

He said that being a part of the flag-hoisting function at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya has been a profiundly moving experience for him. He added, “This ritual, completed at an auspicious time, heralds a new chapter for our cultural pride and national unity. The glorious flag of the Ram Mandir is the foundation of a renaissance for a developed Bharat. May the glorious flag of the Ram Temple be the foundation of India’s renaissance; may it stand as a symbol of justice and righteousness; may it guide our path to prosperity through good governance, and may this flag forever remain hoisted in this form, becoming the energy of a developed Bharat… This is my prayer to Bhagwan Shri Ram. Jai Jai Siyaram.”
