Godrej Appliance has sparked widespread outrage for releasing an advertisement that allegedly insults Hindu festivals and traditions.
In the controversial ad, the company depicts a mother’s lovingly prepared festive savouries and a father’s sacrifices to bring joy to his family as “smelly,” while promoting artificial, lab-made fragrances as symbols of festivity. This portrayal has been condemned as disrespectful toward Hindu cultural values and family sentiments.

Critics said,
“Diwali is not about fragrance in bottles — it’s about the scent of love, devotion, and purity that fills our homes. When a brand mocks that sacred essence, it’s not marketing, it’s an insult to the very soul of our culture.”
Calling the advertisement “anti-Hindu and hypocritical,” Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and several social media users have demanded that Godrej Appliance immediately withdraw the ad from all social media platforms and issue a public apology for hurting Hindu sentiments.
