
Kolhapur – In protest against the unjust 50% tariffs imposed by America on Indian goods, various organisations in Kolhapur staged a protest in front of ‘McDonald’s’ (near Hotel Sayaji) and called for a complete boycott of American goods. Through this movement, the determination has been expressed to respond to America’s economic tyranny by once again using the ‘Swadeshi’ weapon used during the freedom struggle. Like-minded organisations including Hindu Janajagruti Samiti participated in this movement. Devout Hindu Mr Rambhau Methe coordinated the protest. After the protest, a statement was submitted to the District Collector’s Office. This statement was accepted by Tehsildar Swapnil Pawar.
On this occasion Mr Sunil Samant (Founder, Shivshahi Foundation), Mr Sambhajirao Bhokare (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray group’s Deputy District Chief) and Mr Raju Yadav (UBT group Karveer Taluka Chief), H.B.P. Mahadev Yadav Maharaj, Dr Ashwini Malkar (Arogya Bharati), Mr Kishore Ghatge (Shiv Sena’s Deputy District Chief), Mr Sharad Mali (Hindu Rashtra Samanvay Samiti Karveer Taluka Coordinator), Mr Sagar Patil (Yuva Sena), Mr Dilip Bhiwte (Hindu Ekta Andolan) expressed their views.
Call to boycott American goods
In response to America’s unjust tariffs, there was a call to boycott American brands like McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Domino’s, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, Seven Up, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Lay’s, Amazon, Uber, Netflix, Colgate, Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson. There was a call to abandon American products and instead use indigenous products with pride.
