Chamundi Hill belongs to Hindus, not Muslims! – HJS

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti strongly condemns the statement made by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar regarding Chamundi Hill in Mysore that the ‘Chamundi Hill is not the property of Hindus.’ Chamundi Hill is not a public property. It has been a religious center of Hindus since ancient times and is owned by Hindus –– this is an eternal truth. Many Hindu devotees from all over the country and abroad come to have darshan of Chamundeshwari Devi with devotion. Such statements hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu majority. Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had stated that ‘Muslims have the first right over the country’s wealth’. It is no wonder that the Deputy Chief Minister of the same party is currently making such statements. Does the Deputy Chief Minister have the courage to say that ‘the wealth of mosques or Waqf Boards in this country does not belong only to Muslims but to everyone’? Will he dare to claim that the church belongs to everyone, not just Christians? The government may be looking at the administrative part of Chamundi Hill; but the Deputy Chief Minister should bear in mind that the ownership belongs to Hindus while making statements,’ asserted Mr Guruprasad Gowda (Karnataka State Coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti).
