Mumbai – The compound wall of the Malegaon Bhuikot fort was demolished a few days ago. The fort was painted green. I am aware of it and keeping watch. I have personally visited the area. Once the monsoons are over, the Bhuikot fort area will be cleared of the encroachments, said Nitesh Rane, the Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development.
Mr Satish Sonar of the HJS called upon the minister to apprise him of the encroachments on the Malegaon Bhuikot fort (Nasik district) and request him to clear the fort. The HJS has submitted a petition to the minister in this regard.

Minister Rane said, ‘The encroachers have been allocated an alternative place by the Malegaon municipality. They will be relocated there. The government is keeping watch on the situation. The outcome will be positive.’
The ‘Bhuikot Gadpremi Samiti Malegaon’ is a collective of fort enthusiasts who have been fighting a legal battle to free the fort from encroachments since 2017. They have complained to the Archaeological Department about the encroachments, and the case is currently in the Bombay High Court.
