Unity of Varkari community and agitation by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti prompts Maha CM to halt plans for slaughterhouse in Alandi

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and various Varkari organisations complained to the Commissioner against the proposed slaughterhouse in Alandi and submitted representations at various places. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti unitied the Varkari community against this. As a result, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that ‘Alandi will not have the slaughtergouse’; however, involved organisations have vowed to continue the fight till a written order is passed.

HJS delegations meet prominent members of the Varkari community –

On the occasion of Ashadhi Wari, a Hindu Janajagruti Samiti delegation is meeting Warkaris and Saints from the Warkari Sampraday in Dehu-Alandi, Pune, and Sambhajinagar, to discuss issues related to the Nation & Dharma. During these meetings, issues such as the proposed slaughterhouse near the Indrayani River, pollution in the Indrayani and Chandrabhaga rivers, attacks on the Warkari tradition, and the covert infiltration of the Wari by atheists, anti-superstition activists, and non-Hindu proselytisers are being deliberated upon.

1. After discussing various issues famous Kirtankar Dr Ramakrishna Lahvitkar Maharaj praised the work of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. ‘‘The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is making commendable efforts to prevent attacks on the Varkaris as well as Hindu Dharma. I fully support the work of the Samiti,’’ he said.

2. Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj, the Peethadheesh of Shrikshetra Godavari Dham Bet, Sarla, said, ‘‘We will hold joint gatherings of the Samiti and the Varkaris. This will enlighten the Varkaris on a large scale.’’

3. While discussing with H.B.P. Bhaskaragiri Maharaj, the Chief Trustee of ‘Devgad Sansthan’, Mr. Sunil Ghanwat said, ‘‘In the Dr. Narendra Dobhalkar, Com. Pansare murder case, innocent Hindus like Dr. Virendra Tawde are being falsely implicated, and unjustly kept in jail for years”.

4. Swami Prakasanandagiri Maharaj, the successor of Devgad Sansthan, appealed that ”The Maharashtra government should declare at least 5 kilometers of the Vari route and pilgrimage sites (Alandi, Pandharpur, Dehu, Muktai Nagar, Paithan) as a permanent ‘alcohol and meat free zone’ and take strict action against offenders”

5. Shri Sunil Ghanvat of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, along with other H.B.P.s met H.B.P. Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Kolhapurkar, President, Mauli Janmabhoomi, Shrikshetra Apegaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and discussed on efforts necessary to prevent the infiltration of atheists and communists during Ashadhi Wari.

6. H.B.P. Sham Maharaj Ukhalikar and H.B.P. Shri Bhagwat Shirvalkar Maharaj were invited to the convention to be held at Pandharpur. H.B.P. Bhau Maharaj Gosavi, President of the Sant Shreshtha Shri Dnyaneshwar Mauli Palkhi Sohala Dindi Samaj, was also invited to come to Pandharpur. Additionally, discussions were held to understand the complete planning, customs, and traditions of the Wari. There was also a discussion regarding the conspiracies of atheistic progressive groups and ANiS members taking place during the Wari.


7. On June 21, a joint press conference was held in Pune on behalf of all the Varkari sects, sansthans, organisations and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. In this, a strong demand the government should take concrete steps to immediately stop the insult of pilgrimage sites, deities, Saints, Abhangs and the holy Vari, as well as attacks on the Varkari places of worship. Nitin More Maharaj and H.B.P. Vaibhav Maharaj More, President of ‘Sant Sopankaka Palkhi Sohla Dindi Samaj’ H.B.P. Ram Maharaj Kadam, H.B.P. Dattatray Chorge Maharaj of ‘Chintamani Prasadik Dindi’, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states organiser of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Mr Sunil Ghanwat and other Saints and Mahants were present.

8. On June 23, at the ‘Varkari Sant Baithak at Saswad, prominent Maharajs of the Varkari community energised the attendees with their valarous speeches, resolved to unite the Hindus to establish a Hindu Rashtra, and prevent the infiltration of the so called progressives in the Vari.

9. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and the Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh enthusiastically welcomed Sant Shreshtha Dnyaneshwar Mauli Palkhi  and all the Warkaris and organised a health camp in Pune.

10. In various Dindis (processions), the need for education and practice of Hindu Dharma, organisation of Varkaris, Hindu culture and conduct, Problems in the pilgrimage sites of Varkaris and their solutions were shared with the attendees.

11. A grand Warkari convention was held on July 6 at Sadguru Shri Gangagiri Maharaj Math, bringing together over 2,000 Warkaris and Hindu devotees to discuss key issues affecting the Warkari community.
