Misleading advertisement that insulted police uniform removed; but when will action be taken against the culprits? – Surajya Abhiyan

Action to be taken against Nawazuddin Siddiqui and ‘Big Cash’ on the orders of the Minister of State for Home!

On behalf of Surajya Abhiyan, Mr. Ravi Nalawade and Mr. Satish Sonar are seen submitting a memorandum to Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home, Mr. Yogesh Kadam, demanding action against actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and ‘Big Cash’ for promoting gambling.

After consistent efforts by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s Surajya Abhiyan, the controversial ‘Big Cash Poker’ advertisement, featuring actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a police uniform and promoting gambling, has finally been removed from social media. However, no action has yet been taken against the culprits. In this regard, representatives of Surajya Abhiyan, Mr. Satish Sonar and Mr. Ravi Nalawade, met Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home, Mr. Yogesh Kadam, and highlighted how this advertisement seriously tarnished the reputation of the police force. Considering the gravity of the matter, Mr. Kadam instructed the Mumbai Police Commissioner to investigate and take action.

Although the advertisement has been removed, no action has yet been taken against actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and ‘Big Cash’ owner Ankur Singh. Surajya Abhiyan had repeatedly filed complaints with the grievance officers of Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter (X), but no action was taken. Eventually, a complaint was filed with the Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC), which led to the removal of the advertisement. The legal intervention of Supreme Court advocate Amita Sachdeva played a crucial role in this success.

It is shocking and detrimental to the police force’s image that the same police department that files cases against gamblers was used in such an advertisement. In this ad, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, dressed as a police officer, promoted the idea that gambling is a skill essential for solving crimes. Moreover, the Bhagavad Gita was also insulted in the process. Therefore, Surajya Abhiyan has demanded that strict legal action be taken against Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the ‘Big Cash Poker’ company. The government must also implement stringent policies to prevent such misuse of the police force’s image in the future.

“Big Cash Poker” calls for gambling with an actor in a police uniform!

“Surajya Abhiyan” demands immediate action : File a case against Nawazuddin Siddiqui for defaming the police!

A shocking advertisement by the online app “Big Cash Poker” features actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui dressed in a Maharashtra police uniform, calling on people to play poker. This is alarming because the same police department files cases against and arrests gamblers. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s ‘Surajya Abhiyan’ strongly condemns this, stating it tarnishes the image of the Maharashtra police. They warn that ignoring this could lead to more illegal and unethical advertisements using police uniforms.

On October 14, 2024, Mr Abhishek Murukate, Maharashtra state coordinator of Surajya Abhiyan filed a complaint with the Director General of Police and the Mumbai Police Commissioner. He demanded that action be taken against Ankur Singh, the owner of “Big Cash Poker,” and the actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui for their involvement, as well as strict action under the Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1979 and the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951.

Mr Murukate noted that the Maharashtra police are trained through hard work, but this advertisement attempts to suggest that “online gambling gives them skills.” He expressed disappointment that no police officer felt compelled to take action against this app, stating that it is unfortunate that complaints have to be made by others. Surajya Abhiyan also called for the Home Minister to take notice of the matter.
