Hindu activists foil plan of leftists to read out Wendy Doniger’s book at ‘New Delhi World Book Fair’

New Delhi : ‘The Hindus : An alternative history’, a book written by Wendy Doniger insulting Hindus’ Deities and our great national leaders has been withdrawn by Penguin Publications in India. Even then, in World Book Fair started here from 15th February, it was declared by activists of leftist organizations that they would read this book opposing the ban. The activists, who had come here with the intention of reading the book, were opposed by members of pro-Hindu organizations like Hindu Sena, Hindu Defence League and other pro-Hindu organizations by holding demonstrations. Police, however, drove out activists of both the groups from the venue of the book fair.

1. Hindu Sena’s President, Vishnu Gupta said, “Wendy Doniger has criticized Hindu Dharma through her book and we will not tolerate this.”
2. A student of Commerce, Neena Rao said, “In the name of freedom of speech, we will not tolerate a speech that creates hatred irrespective of the book.”
