Active opposition by the parents !

New Dehli – In the history textbook of ICSE Education Board for IX standard, a reference is made to thefights by Marathas, Rajput and Shikhs against Aurangzeb as troublesome. This statement is opposed by Hindu parents. They have demanded, by writing letters to the author and publisher of the textbook, S. L. Kile that this statement, defamatory to the Hindu Kings should be deleted from the textbook. A statement to the effect that Aurangzeb was troubled with the revolt by Marathas, Rajput, Shikhs and Jats is made in the textbook.

The letter written by the parents opposing above statement mentions that Aurangzeb himself was brutal and tyrannical. Barbarous Aurangzeb himself proved troublesome for Hindu kings. He looted Hindu temples, persecuted Hindus. Our Hindu kings fought bravely against him and established Hindu regime. Our school-going children are not happy about the word ‘troublesome’. Students are raising the question why there is no mention of valiantkings like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Maharana Pratap in the history ? It has also been demanded in this letter that lessons about valour exhibited by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Maharana Pratap should be included in the text book.
