Earlier during the Mughal regime, there was practice of cow- slaughtering. Later, during British regime, along with cow-slaughter, even their skin used to be peeled off for manufacturing of various items. This resulted in reduction of number of cows on a large scale. After India’s independence, the obstacles in protection of cows increased. The Government is not doing anything for protection of cows; therefore, Hindus should ask the Government to stop slaughtering of cows and stop exporting beef.
