Immersion of Sri Ganesh idols in artificial water tanks has considerably reduced

Bhadrapad Shukla Ashtami, Kaliyug Varsha 511

Mumbai (Maharashtra) : Yesterday, immersion of Sri Ganesh after 1-1/2 days took place with great enthusiasm in the district. Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC) had set up artificial water tanks at various places for immersion of idols; however, it has been observed from the statistics published by MMC that there was considerable decrease in the immersion of Sri Ganesh idols, installed for 1-1/2 days by individuals, in artificial water tanks. (This is the grace of Lord Ganesh ! As per Dharmashastra, Sri Ganesh idol should be immersed in flowing water so that the particles charged with Sri Ganesh principle spread everywhere and people at far off places also get the spiritual benefit. – Editor SP)

In a circular published by MMC, it has been stated that last year, the idols immersed in artificial water tanks were 7535 whereas this year, 6573 idols have been immersed thus, there is decrease by 962. This shows that there was decrease in number of Sri Ganesh idols immersed in artificial water tanks. MMC had, in fact, erected more artificial water tanks thinking that immersion of Ganesh idols in such water tanks would increase; but the prediction of MMC has gone wrong. There is, however, increase, by 148,  in number of idols installed by public festival committees, which were immersed in such water tanks. (This shows the need to educate Hindus in Dharmashikshan. – Editor SP)

Sanatan and HJS working for 5 years against immersion of idols in artificial water tanks!

Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) have been making an appeal to Ganesh – devotees to immerse the idols in natural water bodies and not in artificial water tanks. They are explaining the spiritual science behind such act and enlightening people on the subject through various mediums. These organizations are creating awareness on the subject at different places in Mumbai and its suburbs. A drive has also been undertaken using different mediums like sculptors, immersion places etc. to prevent the devotees from donating their worshipped idols.
