Stop demonstrations, artiste threatens HJS

Mumbai: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti held demonstrations against the Marathi play ‘Vastraharan’ at Shivaji Mandir hall, Dadar in Mumbai. During the demonstrations, an artist, Shri Sunil Deshmukh enacting in another play in Marathi ‘Bighadale Swarga che Daar’ started arguing with members of HJS. He threatened the members, � Your samiti is responsible for stopping stage shows of our play. Because of you, we are out of work. I shall get a representation signed by thousands of viewers and stop your agitations.� Although the members tried to make him understand the purpose of demonstrations, he was in no mood to listen. Finally police had to intervene.

By threatening the members of HJS, the artist has shown the dark side of his character. Having such artists among us is a warning bell to all theatre lovers. It is necessary to unite and to ask them for explanations. Dr. Dhuri, the Mumbai district convener of HJS said that till the objectionable part is excluded from the play, the agitation will go on.
