kolhapur : HJS submits representation against celebration of ‘Valentine Day’

Devout women submitting representation to Sou. Sunita Powar (Dy. Sarpanch, Nagaon)

Kolhapur : Incidents of teasing girls and violence are happening through cases of one-sided love in the name of hideous exhibition of love in the background of ‘Valentine Day’. There is tremendous increase in young men-women partying on these days involving consumption of liquor, smoking, drugs etc. Therefore, celebration of 14th February as ‘Matru-Pitru Divas’ in schools-colleges should be encouraged, instead of Valentine Day and malpractices taking place in the name of ‘Valentine Day’ may be prevented. The above demand was made through a representation submitted by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to Dy. Sarpanch Sou. Sunita Powar at Nagaon.

Sou. Ranjana Patil spoke on the topic of ‘Valentine Day’ at Vitthal Mandir, Gijavane at Gadhinglaj during ‘Haldi-kumkum’ program. 30 women attended the program.
